That is the idea behind our latest paper, “Quantum Error Mitigation at the Pre-Processing Stage”, which we just presented at the IEEE Quantum Computing and Engineering Conference (IEEE QCE) in Toronto, Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The problem:<\/strong> quantum computers hold huge potential for solving fundamental challenges, but they suffer from “quantum noise”. Because of it, the average value of the quantity you are after (the “observable”) can differ greatly from its theoretical value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our approach:<\/strong> we show it is possible to find a different observable that compensates for the effects of noise. The correction is applied at the pre-processing stage, before the measurement is taken, rather than on the results afterwards.
